What Your Kilimanjaro Trekking Adventure Involves

Kilimanjaro is one of the safest and most popular of the Seven Summits.

Despite its equatorial location, the peak is covered in snow and ice, but these don’t pose major challenges. With Kilimanjaro's gently sloping trails, a high level of fitness is essential, but no technical climbing skills are needed. For many adventurers, this is their first Seven Summit, making it the perfect warm-up for more demanding climbs later in their journey.

That being said, Kilimanjaro does come with its own set of challenges. Altitude sickness, sudden weather changes, and some sections that require scrambling can catch climbers off guard. That’s why at Elite Exped, we take the same careful approach to our Mount Kilimanjaro expeditions as we do with our more extreme adventures.

Our Kilimanjaro guided climb follows the Lemoshe route. This ensures the perfect balance for the climbing high and sleeping low method, giving you the best chance to acclimatise.

Although Kilimanjaro is not as extreme as the peaks our team regularly tackles in the Himalayas, we respect every mountain’s unique challenges. Our Mount Kilimanjaro trek takes seven days for the climb itself—totaling in a 9-day itinerary. This schedule provides ample time for acclimatisation, allowing your body to adjust to the 5,000-metre ascent.

The local guides we use are Certified Wilderness First Responder professionals with proven records of successful expeditions. They will be glad to share their knowledge of Kilimanjaro flora and help you reach the roof of Africa.

2. Date: 6th Aug to 14th Aug 2026: - Tejan (TJ) Group

This group will be led by TJ, with the support of highly experienced local guides. TJ has summited all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks, completed five major Pakistan 8,000ers in just 26 days, and led a world-record ascent from New York to Everest in under four days. A former British Army Commando and Cold Weather Warfare Instructor, he now leads expeditions worldwide.

3. Date: 8th Aug to 16th Aug 2026 - Led by our local, highly experienced Elite Exped guide.

Led by our local, highly experienced Elite Exped guide: The local guides we use are Certified Wilderness First Responder professionals with proven records of successful expeditions. They will be glad to share their knowledge of Kilimanjaro flora and help you reach the roof of Africa.

4. Date: August 18th to August 27th, 2026  VVIP Group - Summit with Nimsdai 

This group will be led by our CEO, Nimsdai, with support from local guides. Nimsdai has a total of 52 summits above 8000m, with 24 ascents completed without supplemental oxygen (the highest number of 8k summits in the world). He holds more than a dozen Guinness World Records, including the First Winter Ascent of K2, and has served as a Former Gurkha and Tier 1 UKSF / SBS.

What route is chosen and how long is the trek?

The route we use is the Lemoshe Route which takes around 7 days to complete the trek.
