Tenji Sherpa

Born and raised in the remote village of Sanam Gudel in Solukhumbu, Nepal, Tenji's deep connection to the Himalayas has shaped his destiny from a young age.

Nestled amidst the towering giants of the Himalayan range, Tenji's childhood was filled with awe-inspiring vistas and a constant stream of relatives embarking on journeys to conquer the world's highest peaks, including the legendary Mount Everest. It was this captivating environment that sparked Tenji's innate passion for climbing, pushing him to follow in his family's footsteps.

In 2019, Tenji Sherpa embarked on a rigorous journey to attain the IFMGA/UIAGM certification, a testament to his unwavering commitment to professionalism and safety in the world of mountain guiding. This certification is a mark of his exceptional skills, ensuring that he adheres to the highest international standards when guiding adventurers like you through challenging and diverse terrains.

Tenji's love for mountaineering has taken him to various corners of the globe. He has not only conquered peaks in the Himalayas but also ventured into the Alps, the United States, and Japan. His extensive international experience, combined with his deep-rooted understanding of the Himalayan terrain, sets him apart as a guide of unparalleled expertise.

Training & Achievments

Tenji Sherpa is a mountaineer of unparalleled caliber, equipped with an extensive training background that includes completing the Basic Mountaineering Training Course (NMA), Introductory Rock Climbing Training (NMIA), Trekking Guide Training (NATHM), Navigation Training, High Mountain Rescue Training, and First Aid Training. His dedication to mastering his craft culminated in him achieving the prestigious IFMGA Guide (International Federation of Mountain Guides Association) and UIAGM Guide (Union Internationale des Associations de Guides de Montagnes) certifications.

Tenji's achievements in the world of mountaineering are nothing short of extraordinary. With eight successful ascents of Mount Everest, including one without the use of supplemental oxygen, he has demonstrated exceptional determination, endurance, and high-altitude climbing skills. Beyond Everest, he has triumphed over the towering peaks of K2, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Broad Peak, and Manaslu, showcasing his formidable strength, ambition, and passion for exploration.

What truly sets Tenji Sherpa apart is his incredible feat of conquering the Top 5 8000ers in just 75 days, a testament to his unparalleled endurance and unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of mountaineering. He has also taken on the challenge of the most demanding routes, including the North Face of Cholatse, the majestic Amadablam, the demanding Himlung, and the strenuous Lhakpa Ri, further solidifying his reputation as a fearless and skilled climber.

Tenji's accomplishments extend beyond the Himalayas, as he has successfully scaled numerous 6000-meter peaks in the region, as well as tackled various 4000-meter peaks in the Alps and Rocky Mountains. His versatility and vast climbing experience make him a trusted guide and an inspiration to all who aspire to reach new heights in the world of mountaineering.

Also a fun fact, Tenji Sherpa was the Late Ueli Steck’s climbing partner on the North Face Cholatse and many other expeditions.
